Family dispute engaging multiple jurisdictions

Alasdair is instructed by a leading fiduciary in Guernsey concerning an ongoing matter before the court where the branches of a family are engaged in hostile litigation concerning their significant interests under three related trusts established by a deceased senior family member.  The application brought by the trustees for directions has triggered litigation in the Dutch Antilles and has required consideration of conflicting issues of Dutch inheritance law and Guernsey trust law.  Over the course of the litigation the trustees have been successful in obtaining relief to ensure the ongoing operation of two of the trusts whilst negotiating the changeable and conflicting positions of the interested parties.
