Disputed will
An institutional investment management client asked Ingrid Pierce to act for the family in personal matter involving a deceased relative. It was complex estate matter involving inter vivos trusts and a disputed will. Ingrid was asked to advise on the terms of the trust, removal of a trustee, various testamentary issues (allegations of undue influence and so forth), obtaining a grant of probate and various cross-border issues involving parallel litigation in the US. The matter also involved negotiating with prospective new trustees and sensitivities around the profile of the family and media interest.
Ingrid Pierce was particularly well suited to handle this matter given her experience in non-contentious and contentious trusts litigation. She also involved attorneys in probate, litigation and real estate. A settlement agreement was reached on all matters including the contested will and new trustees appointed to deal with and dispose of certain property.
