UHNWI sibling involved in controversy with trustee and siblings resolved by way of agreement encapsulated in Public Trustee v Cooper applications offshore.
Consulted by Canadian lawyer and executor regarding the estate of a very wealthy Canadian who became ill and then died in the UK. We are in dispute with the HMRC as to whether the man was UK domiciled and seeking direction in the Canadian courts as to whether the executor is entitled to indemnity from the estate should it pay the UK tax as there are insufficient assets in the UK to meet the tax liabilities which will exceed £20 million.
