Tailoring a private OEIC to match the individual family's investment needs
A private open-ended investment company(OEIC) was tailored to match the individual family's investment needs. Individual sub-funds being tailored to suit the varying income and capital requirements of each branch of the family. In addition to being an onshore tax efficient vehicle the family derived the following benefits:
- Privacy when investing with underlying managers only the fund number is required as the vehicle is FCA authorised, removing the need for copious KYC documents being sent to underlying managers in addition to a simplified CRS and FATCA process.
- A committee was set up to oversee the investment strategy and to monitor and mitigate risk
- Each family member received audited accounts and derived comfort from that
- The family were able to benefit from institutional pricing and being able to control the relationship with investment managers better.
Advice was given on establishment, governance, set up and implementation as well as ongoing review and negotiation of underlying agreements and fund documents.
